How and when to enrol on your modules

If you have optional modules or Discovery modules on your course, you need to enrol on your modules.

If you only have compulsory modules on your course, you don’t need to complete module enrolment.

If you’re an incoming study abroad student, you can’t access online module enrolment. If you want to make any changes to the modules you’re enrolled on, contact the study abroad coordinator in your school.

How to complete module enrolment

1. Log in to Student Services

  1. Visit the enrolment page on Student Services.
  2. Log in only once and on one device. Logging in on a second device will log you out of your first session.

If you receive the error message ‘Online enrolment is currently experiencing high demand’ refresh your browser and confirm form resubmission to continue.

You can log in before module enrolment opens, but you’ll need to refresh the page once it opens at 10am (UK time).

2. View your timetable

  1. Select ‘modules/timetable’ to check your timetable.

If you're a returning student, your timetable should display your compulsory modules.

If you're a new student, your timetable with your compulsory modules on it will be available 48 hours after you’ve completed the registration process.

Your timetable is provisional and may change.

We recommend you check your timetable regularly to see if there are any changes.

3. Choose your modules

  1. Select ‘modules/timetable’.
  2. Select ‘module enrolment’.
  3. Choose the modules you would like to enrol on by checking the check box. You must not enrol on a module that you have already completed in a previous year. If a module has pre-requisites, co-requisites or is mutually exclusive, it will be marked with an ‘R’. Pre-requisite means that you can only study the module if you have already completed a specific module. Co-requisite means you can only study the module if you study another specific module at the same time. Mutually exclusive means you can’t study a module at the same time as certain other modules, or if you’ve previously studied a certain module. Details about these requirements can be checked on the undergraduate module catalogue or taught postgraduate module catalogue.
  4. Once you have chosen your modules, select ‘submit’.
  5. Make sure you wait for the next screen to load. It might take a moment to load.

4. Enrol on Discovery modules (optional)

New students can select optional modules and Discovery modules at the same time.

Discovery module enrolment for returning students opens in July, so this step will not be available when optional module enrolment opens in May. You’ll need to return in July to select your Discovery modules.

  1. Select ‘module/timetable’.
  2. Select ‘choose Discovery modules’. Wait for the next page to load.
  3. Select the ‘Search Discovery modules’ button.
  4. You can check the box for the subject area your module is in or you can search for the module using keywords.
  5. Select ‘module search’.
  6. Choose the modules you want to enrol on by using the check boxes.
  7. Select ‘submit’ after choosing your modules.

Contact the teaching school if a module is full as there may be a waiting list for the module.

5. Submit your choice of modules

  1. Select ‘checklist’ when you have finished choosing your modules.
  2. You’ll then be asked to confirm if you meet the pre- and/or co-requisites for the module.
  3. Select ‘continue’ if you meet them.
  4. Select ‘back’ if you do not meet the pre- and/or co-requisites to return to module selection and select alternative modules.

6. Module confirmation

  1. Select ‘module/timetable’.
  2. Select ‘view and confirm module choice’.
  3. You’ll be able to view the modules you are already enrolled on. These are your compulsory modules. You’ll also be able to view your ‘web enrolled’ or ‘optional’ modules. These are the modules you have selected by completing this process.
  4. Select the check box to confirm your module selection.
  5. Select ‘continue’.

When you’ve confirmed your module enrolment, a confirmation email will be sent to your University email address.

If you’ve selected a Discovery module that’s also an optional module, the module and credits will be listed twice in the confirmation email. This is an error with how the email is generated, and you will not be enrolled onto the module twice. You will not need to take any further action.

When you add optional or discovery modules, or make any changes, they will show in your timetable the next day.

7. View your enrolled modules

  1. Select ‘module/timetable’.
  2. Select ‘view enrolled modules’.

You’ll be able to view a record of the modules you have been enrolled on.

If you have any issues with enrolling on your modules, read the support with module enrolment page for help.

When you make any changes to your modules, you should get a confirmation email and the changes will show in your timetable the next day.

Changing your modules after online enrolment closes

After the online enrolment system closes, if you want to make further changes to your module options, you’ll need to follow a different process. Find out more about changing modules.

SOUL module registration

SOUL experiences are available to second year undergraduate students in 2025/26. Registration is now open. Find out more about SOUL experiences and how to register.

Please note that these will not be available via the online enrolment system and will only be added to your record once you have signed up to an experience.

Once your experience is confirmed, we will enrol you onto the SOUL module in early September and email you with confirmation.

Please email the SOUL team at SOUL@leeds.ac.uk with any questions about SOUL experiences or enrolment.
