How and when to enrol on your modules
If you only have compulsory modules on your programme you do not need to complete module enrolment.
If you are an incoming study abroad student you can't access online module enrolment. You need to contact the study abroad coordinator in your school to make changes.
If you are a student with optional or discovery modules you need to enrol on your modules.
Completing module enrolment
Step one: Log in to Student Services
- Visit the enrolment page on Student Services.
- Log in only once and on one device. Logging in on a second device will log you out of your first session.
If you receive the error message ‘Online Enrolment is currently experiencing high demand’ refresh your browser and confirm form resubmission to continue.
You can log in before module enrolment opens, but you will need to refresh the page once it opens at 10am (UK time).
Step two: View your timetable
Select ‘modules/timetable’ to check your timetable.
Your timetable is provisional and may change.
Your timetable may be empty but it will be updated.
We recommend you check your timetable regularly to see if there are any changes.
Step three: Choose your modules
- Select ‘modules/timetable’.
- Select ‘module enrolment’.
- Choose the modules you would like to enrol on by checking the check box. If a module has pre-requisites or co-requisites, it will be marked with an ‘r’.
- Once you have chosen your modules, select ‘submit’.
- Make sure you wait for the next screen to load. It might take a moment to load.
Step four: Enrol on discovery modules (optional)
Please note: discovery module enrolment for returning students opens in July so this step will not be available when optional module enrolment opens in May, you will need to return in July to select your discovery modules. For new students, you can select optional and discovery modules at the same time.
- Select ‘module/timetable’.
- Select ‘choose discovery modules’. Wait for the next page to load.
- Select the ‘Search discovery modules’ button.
- You can check the box for the subject area your module is in or you can search for the module using keywords.
- Select ‘module search’.
- Choose the modules you want to enrol on by using the check boxes.
- Select ‘submit’ after choosing your modules.
Contact the teaching school if a module is full as there may be a waiting list for the module.
Step six: Submit your choice of modules
- Select ‘checklist’ when you have finished choosing your modules.
- You will then be asked to confirm if you meet the pre- and/or co-requisites for the module.
- Select ‘continue’ if you meet them.
- Select ‘back’ if you do not meet the pre- and/or co-requisites to return to module selection and select alternative modules.
Step seven: Module confirmation
- Select ‘module/timetable’.
- Select ‘view and confirm module choice’.
- You will be able to view the modules you are already enrolled on. These are your compulsory modules. You will also be able to view your ‘web enrolled’ or ‘optional’ modules, these are the modules you have selected by completing this process.
- Select the check box to confirm your module selection.
- Select ‘continue’.
Step eight: View your enrolled modules
- Select ‘module/timetable’.
- Select ‘view enrolled modules’.
You will be able to view a record of the modules you have been enrolled on.
Module enrolment confirmation
When you have confirmed your module enrolment, a confirmation email will be sent to your University email address.
If you have selected a discovery module that is also an optional module, the module and credits will be listed twice in the confirmation email. This is an error with how the email is generated and you will not be enrolled onto the module twice. You will not need to take any further action.
Changing your modules online
You can make changes to your module selections using the online system as often as you like until the date the online system closes.
Dropping modules
- Select ‘module/timetable’.
- Select ‘choose optional modules’.
- Check the ‘drop’ check box for the modules your would like to drop.
- If you already know the module you would like to enrol on in its place you can choose that module by selecting the check box.
- Once you have finished dropping and choosing modules, select ‘submit’.
Changing your modules
After the online enrolment system closes if you want to make further changes to your module options you will need to follow a different process, find out more about Changing modules.
