Clubs and Societies Membership Fund

The Clubs and Societies Membership Fund exists to help Plus Programme students access the full range of Clubs and Societies at Leeds University Union.

As long as you meet the eligibility criteria, you can apply to have some of the membership fee for clubs and societies reimbursed. You will be required to pay the first £20 of membership fees, then a successful application to the fund will see any remaining fees over £20 reimbursed. For example, if your membership fee is £30, a successful application will result in £10 being reimbursed to you.

Haven’t joined a society yet? Why not take LUU’s quiz to find out which might be a good fit for you? With over 300 to choose from, there’s sure to be at least one for everyone.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • You must be registered on the Plus Programme, or eligible to join. For those not currently registered, you can find info on how to apply for membership here.
  • The membership fee for the club or society must be over £20
  • The membership fee must be for a one year period only (if your club or society does not offer one year membership, a longer membership is permitted)

FAQ

Can I apply for reimbursement on a society I joined earlier in the year? Yes, you can apply for reimbursement on membership for any club or society that you have joined this academic year.

What if my society membership fee is £20 or under? Unfortunately, we cannot provide any funding for membership fees that are £20 or under.

What evidence will I need to provide? You will need to provide proof that you have paid for membership, such as a payment receipt. This must be provided when you apply for reimbursement.

Can I apply for reimbursement on more than one society? Yes! There is currently no limit on the number of clubs or societies that you may apply for reimbursement on, though one may be introduced later should the fund be reaching its limit.

What if I am unable to meet the initial cost to then apply for reimbursement? If this is the case, please make this clear on the application form and cases will be reviewed on an individual basis.

If I am successful, how will I be paid? You will be paid directly to your bank account, and will need to provide your details during the application process.
