Buddy Scheme Socials
Throughout the year the Buddy Scheme will be hosting a series of exclusive events to give students on the scheme opportunities to hang out with their matched buddy, meet others on the scheme and try something new, fun and different.
You can come along with your buddy or on your own, meet other students on the scheme and have fun! Perhaps you'll meet your buddy at one of the social events for the first time. With all our Buddy Socials, you can come for the entire time or just drop in.

Coffee, Crafts, and Cake: Tuesday 5 March, 14:30 – 16:30
Where: Room 6, Leeds University Union (LUU)
All buddies are invited to join us for a relaxing drink (coffee, tea and hot chocolate available) and some tasty cake in LUU.
Escape in between classes to meet your buddy or come alone and meet some new friends.
There will be space to sit and relax, whilst making some lovely crafts. Fancy making a nice bookmark to liven up your university textbooks? Why not make matching friendship bracelets with your buddy to commemorate your time on the University of Leeds’ Buddy Scheme? Maybe you just want to have a relaxing time doing some colouring – all buddies are welcome.
Come along for some free refreshments and a great opportunity to meet others!
You can come for the entire period or drop in at any time.
St Patrick’s Day Saturday 16 March, 13:30 – 15:30
Where: Level 12 Common Room, Marjorie and Arnold Ziff building
Have you ever heard of St Patrick’s Day? It’s an annual holiday that began in Ireland but is now celebrated across the whole of the UK!
All you need to know is that green is the theme of the day...
Join this exclusive Buddy Scheme social where you can learn more about the day in a quiz (with some prizes) and take part in some cake and cookie decorating. Who can get the most golden coins into the pot in 20 seconds? Who can say the funniest limerick?
Feel free to come along with your buddy, or on your own and meet some new people! Dress in green and take a photo at our Irish-inspired photobooth!

Easter Egg Hunt: Saturday 23 March, 13:00 – 16:30
Where: Campus
Celebrate Easter with the Buddy Scheme!
Start spring break with an egg-citing adventure around campus. On Saturday 23 March, there will be posters across campus that you can find. Scan the QR code on each poster to get a clue to where the next one may be.
Complete all the clues and you may find that the Easter Bunny has a surprise waiting for you at the end...
All buddies are free to do this on your own or with groups. Perhaps this is a great way to get to know more of campus with your buddy. Your first clue will arrive the morning of the event so keep an eye out....

Buddy Sports Day & Picnic: Saturday 27 April, 12:00 – 16:00
Where: Woodhouse Moor (Hyde Park)
All buddies are invited to participate in the Buddy Scheme’s 2024 Sports Day!
Come and join other Buddy Scheme members and spend an afternoon in Woodhouse Moor (Hyde Park). We will have multiple different ‘sports’ that you can play including a British tradition of the Egg and Spoon race!
After the competition, we will all enjoy a picnic together whilst the results of the tournament are calculated. The winning team will win a prize to share!

Games Night: Thursday 2 May, 18:00 – 21:00
Where: Crossroads at Leeds University Union
Step into the world of fun and friendly competition at our Games Night social! Whether you know lots about games, or would just like to explore more, there’s something for everyone.
Join us for an evening of laughter as we roll dices, draw cards, and challenge each other in a variety of games. There will also be multiple consoles in the space so join us for a game of Just Dance, or Valorant? Between the PC’s, XBox, Nintendo Switch, and board games, you won’t be bored!
Meet us at Crossroads in Leeds University Union (near Common Ground where Global Cafe is held every Monday) to spend an evening playing games and enjoying snacks together. You can come for the entire period or drop in at any time. Bring your buddy or meet someone new!

End of Year Buddy Scheme Party: Tuesday 5 May, 18:30 – 21:00

Say goodbye to this year’s Buddy Scheme socials the right way....
We’ll be hosting a party for members of the Buddy Scheme. Come along for some music, free soft drinks and snacks and take the last chance to enjoy being around so many wonderful buddies.
