You'll find support if you have children, if your circumstances change during your studies, including a name change, needs in relation to religious observance and many more circumstances where an extra helping hand or awareness may be needed.

Accommodation for families

Moving to Leeds with your family needs careful consideration. There are a number of things you need to know about before you arrive. We’ve put them all together to help with your decision making.  

Change of personal details

Please let the University know immediately about any changes to your personal details so your records are up to date.

Childcare

If you have children, it's likely that at some stage you'll need to arrange childcare so you can concentrate on your studies.

Meet other parents

Meeting other student parents and their children is a great way to make new friends, and an opportunity to offer one another mutual support and take part in family-friendly social activities.

Personalised Examination Arrangements

If you're disabled, ill, taking assessments abroad or unable to take an assessment due to religious observance, then special arrangements may be made for you. Find out what kind of adjustments can be made in order to enable you to sit your assessments, and how to notify us if you need to have special arrangements put in place.

Prayer, contemplation and faith-based support

Our quiet spaces, prayer facilities and faith-based support give you the chance to take a break, reflect, and connect with local faith communities. 

Ramadan Support

Find out more about Ramadan, including facilities and support for students observing Ramadan and the programme of activities offered. Learn more about this holy month and how to support fellow students who are fasting. In 2024, Ramadan will be between 10/11 March and 9/10 April, depending on the sighting of the moon.

Religious Observance and Assessments

If you're unable to attend assessments on Sabbaths, holy days or religious festivals, find out how to notify the Assessment & Progress Team and what arrangements can be put in place.

Schools

Families moving to Leeds with children between the ages of 5 and 16 will need to find out about the UK education system and plan where they will go to school.
