One of the salient learning points of the trip for me was the opportunity to apply my technical background in a leadership context. I’ve spent the past four years of my education focusing on science and engineering – but I realise that on its own a propensity for academics is not enough to really change society. Combining technical understanding and leadership will be crucial to solving the problems of our generation.  Cultural intelligence is key to improving our world, and I now feel that I have the necessary framework to make crucial self-assessments about my leadership style and how I can utilise my emotional and cultural understanding to make more informed decisions.
