What is International Orientation?

International Orientation is the perfect way to find out more about the University of Leeds and about living in the UK, join in social activities and tours and meet new and current Leeds students. Whenever you arrive, we’ll help you:

  • Find essential information and learn about opportunities to make the most of your international experience in Leeds.
  • Discover our campus and the city.
  • Meet other students, make connections and start settling in.

Catch up on talks, explore our campus and take part in social activities

Welcome to Leeds! Discover our campus and find out more about opportunities on offer in Leeds throughout the year. Use the following resources to get yourself off to a good start when you arrive or at any point of your student journey.

Step 1 – Resources to help you get started

Head to our International Orientation resources page to watch a recording of our main international orientation talk and webinars. Our webinars will help you with some of the more practical aspects of your stay, from opening a bank account, to registering with a doctor and understanding support for disabled students.

Step 2 – Check what’s on in Leeds University Union

Find out what events are on each day on LUU Engage and don’t miss Global Café (every Monday in LUU Common Ground, 5.30 – 7.30pm).

Visit the LUU building! Find out more about student societies, part-time job opportunities and how you can represent our student community. If you have any questions about student life in Leeds, visit the LUU Help&Support desk in the Student Union Foyer to speak to a trained adviser.

Step 3 – Discover our campus

Take a campus tour! Explore our campus and find your favourite spots to study and relax.

Looking for ways to practice a language? Visit the Language Zone. Ask more about their peer-to-peer initiatives and resources you can use to study independently.

Asking for help

If you’ve just arrived in Leeds, take some time to read about processes you’ll need to complete when you're on campus.

You can contact the Student Information Service (SIS) with any questions you have throughout your time in Leeds. They will be able to answer your questions or put you in touch with the right team on campus that can help you. You can call them, email them, or visit them at one of four Student Information Points on campus.

If you don’t know who to ask, ask the Student Information Service.
