Summer in Leeds
Check out our Summer in Leeds activities and events for students, postgraduate researchers and your partners and families over the summer break. From 27 June until 16 September, there will be lots of activities to keep you entertained and provide you with oppportunities to learn new things and meet with other students.

Join our friendly student hosts for a tour of our beautiful campus. Meet other students and discover some great places, facilities and green spaces. Meet at the Parkinson Building Steps. Book a tour from 14:00-15:30 or 15:45-17:15.

Leeds & You City Chase, 13:00-15:00
Explore Leeds city centre and get to know other students in this fun treasure hunt activity. Our student hosts put you into a team and give you your instructions. Then you search for the answers and try to win your prize. Book a place via Eventbrite.
Leeds & You Trip to Golden Acre Park
Go with our students hosts to visit a popular park, well known for its circular lakeside walk, wonderful gardens and popular tea rooms. Bring a picnic or you can buy refreshments in the cafe. Book a place via Eventbrite.

Student Information Service Scavenger Hunt, 10am to 4pm

Wellbeing HIIT and Core, 2.40pm to 3.30pm, Jade studio
This High Intensity Interval Training class will work your core, burn calories, and get your blood pumping, using full body exercises. Book a place on Wellbeing HIIT and Core via Eventbrite.
Global café, 5.30pm to 7.30pm
Global Café is for everyone from everywhere! A weekly opportunity for students and postgraduate researchers to meet new people, relax with friends, have great conversations, and enjoy free refreshments. Global Cafe hosts are there to welcome newcomers and help everyone have a lovely Monday evening. No need to book, just come along to LUU Common Ground on the day.

Wellbeing Pilates, 2.30pm to 3.30pm, Jade Studio
Follow a series of mind-body exercises to focus on increasing strength, flexibility, posture and balance. This class will be suitable for all fitness levels, covering the foundation principles of Pilates. Book a place for Wellbeing Pilates via Eventbrite.

Let’s Chat, 12noon to 1pm (Online via MS Teams)
An event organised by the Language Centre, providing a chance to practice your English with a fluent speaker. No need to book, just drop in! MS Teams link to follow.
Wellbeing Yoga, 12noon to 1pm, Jade studio
Stretch and strengthen the whole body in this slow paced Yoga session. Suitable for all levels including those completely new to yoga. Book a place for Wellbeing Yoga via Eventbrite.
Pen to Paper, 12.30pm to 3.30pm, Treasures of the Brotherton Gallery, Parkinson court
Whether you can stay for ten minutes or the full three hours, Pen to Paper is free, open to everyone and all materials will be provided. Each week, we will have a different focus so you can pull up a stool and enjoy looking at objects and works you may never have noticed before. Whether you are a beginner or an experienced writer, use your time to hone your creative writing skills, chat with fellow writers or simply indulge your creativity in a calm, inspiring atmosphere. No need to book a place, just turn up and write!
Art, Humanities and Cultures (AHC) Wellbeing Café, 1pm to 2pm
AHC Wellbeing Cafe is a welcoming space for students to meet for a chat and a cuppa (you can also bring lunch). There will be activities every week that you can join in if you want to or you can just use the space to make friends and take time away from studying which is important for your wellbeing. Just drop in! Families also welcome.
Wellbeing Circuits, 1.30pm to 2.30pm, Jade Studio
A circuit-based exercise session targeting full body fitness. This is open to all abilities and will involve a mixture of exercises using weights and body weight exercises to include strengthening and cardiovascular fitness. Book a place for Wellbeing Circuits via Eventbrite.

Whether you can stay for ten minutes or the full three hours, the free Gallery Sketch Club is open to everyone, and all materials will be provided. Each week, we will have a different ‘Friday Focus’ so you can pull up a stool and enjoy looking at works you may never have noticed before. Use your time to hone your sketching skills, chat with fellow art appreciators or simply indulge your creativity in a calm, inspiring atmosphere. No need to book a place, just turn up and draw!

LUU Summer Trips Programme
From medieval schools and colleges in Oxford to thrilling fast rides in Alton Towers, the Trips Programme at Leeds University Union has a range of destinations that suits different interests. Trips start early in the morning from the Parkinson Building where a coach would be waiting for us. Check out the Trips Programme Events for more information.
