Rainbow Junk-tion Christmas Lunch

Christmas lunch

Are you a University of Leeds student staying in Leeds over Christmas? Would you like to attend a shared meal with members of the local community on Christmas Day?

Rainbow Junk-tion Café are serving a pay-as-you-feel Christmas Lunch. The café is part of the Real Junk Food Project network which aims to tackle food waste and food poverty. The cafe turns food that would have been wasted into healthy meals available for everyone. Guests can decide how much they pay for their meal, ensuring that cost is never a barrier.

Lunch will be served to guests between 12.00 and 15.00. You have the option of meeting a University staff member wearing a purple t-shirt at the entrance of Leeds University Union at 11.30. They will accompany you to the cafe and introduce you to one another, so feel free to come on your own and meet new people.

You also have the opportunity to volunteer to help prepare and serve food, wash dishes and keep the cafe clean and tidy. The team will start to prepare for the day from 8.00. You can choose to volunteer for anything from one hour to the whole day!

Please register either as a guest or a volunteer by Monday 18 December. If you can, please come along to the Introduction Session on Thursday 21 December to get to know the café before Christmas day. We are also running a Chinese Christmas Crafts session at the cafe on Thursday 14 December to help decorate the cafe ready for Christmas.
