Parking and venue accessibility
Graduating students and guests can park for free during the ceremony period. Our campus is fully accessible, and blue badge holders can park for free near the Great Hall.
You and your guests can park for free during the ceremony period at the Cinder Moor car park on Woodhouse Lane. Please note that this is not the multi-storey car park.
The car park is open from 8am to 7pm. Cars must be removed by this time.
The car park is approximately half a mile from the main entrance to the University; the walk can take up to 20 minutes.
The postcode for the free car park if you are using a satellite navigation is LS6 2NA.
Directions to Cinder Moor car park from Leeds City Centre
- Drive up to the University and pass the Parkinson Building, with its large white tower, on the left.
- Keep going straight ahead. After about 400 metres, you will pass the Library pub on the left.
- After another 200 metres, turn right (the first gap in the dual carriageway) into Rampart Road. The car park can be seen from there.
Parking for Blue Badge holders
Blue Badge holders can park for free on campus, this needs to be pre arranged by submitting your car registration details by the 28 November using our special requirements form. Due to the University operating a number plate recognition system you will need to pre book and have your Blue Badge on display.
There are two parking areas for blue badge holders. You enter the main campus via University Road to access either of these parking areas:
- University Road.
- The accessible parking outside the Great Hall, which, during graduation, are reserved for blue badge holders attending the ceremony.
The University campus is fully accessible. The two main areas you will need to access for graduation, the Great Hall and the Student Union Building, both have lift and wheelchair access. The Great Hall is also fitted with an induction loop system.
Graduation ceremonies are held on the first floor of the Great Hall, accessible via a lift. There will be portering staff in the Hall to offer assistance.
If any of your guests require any special assistance on the day please make prior arrangements by submitting our special requirements form.
Disabled students taking part in the ceremony
If you are unable to use the steps to the stage, or do not wish to, there is a platform lift available. You also have the option not to go on stage, in which case the Presiding Officer will come down the steps to present your certificate. Please submit our special requirements form so we can organise this for you on the day.
You may find it useful to watch a webcast of a previous ceremony.
At the end of the ceremony, all graduates process down the centre aisle behind the academic procession, out of the Great Hall. If you need lift access, follow the procession until the end of the centre aisle, then turn right. Once the centre aisle is clear, go back down the centre aisle and out via the main lift.
